DRESSCODE: TRAVEL TIPS & PACKABLE PRINTS
Travel. The word itself puts a smile on our faces and makes our hearts race. Adventuring to far off places expands the mind and heart, and enriches life. Whether a weekend or a month, we're always itching to get away for a change of scenery. New faces, new food, new surroundings- these are the experiences that feed our soul. India, South Africa, Italy, the next neighborhood over...anywhere we go can be an eye-opening experience if we leave ourselves open to it.
Traveling light is another love. Being on the go without being weighed down by excessive luggage is the easiest way to be ready for a spontaneous trip and makes living out of a bag a breeze. Bright and bold photo-ready prints are our suitcase saviors. A few strategically selected prints easily bring practical basics to life (we're thinking of YOU, Jean Paul Gaultier Soleil) and keep you fresh for the 'gram. Check out our fave travel picks, along with some packing tips below!
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER Soleil Wax Print Mesh Tank
1. Pack an effortless, low-maintenance piece.
A punchy printed mesh tank by Jean Paul Gaultier Soleil is a no-brainer. You can roll it, fold it, stuff it- takes up practically zero space in your bag and doesn't wrinkle. Easy to throw on and adds loads of vibrant color to any look. This double-duty piece takes you where you want to go (or unexpectedly end up): Wear with a flared short and fedora, and you're ready for a day in the sun; pair with a long maxi skirt and shawl, and you're ready for dinner. We know many people recommend packing by outfit, but this piece seamlessly transitions between different looks.
MOSCHINO Bead Knit Marley Top
2. Bring a little fun with you.
This Moschino sweater tank embodies laid-back vacation vibes. Looking as though it was picked up at the local market, it's hard to wear this little knit number and feel anything but blissed out. The neutral, marled yarn easily works with denim, cotton, leather, and other natural fibers, and can be layered over a tee or shirt for modesty if necessary. While we're fans of minimalist packing, we use a little of that extra space for adding an easily packable piece that fits right into the spirit of our trip.
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER Soleil Mesh Bollywood Pant
3. Pack a long pant.
This bright printed mesh pant by Jean Paul Gaultier Soleil colorfully celebrates cultures across South Asia and drops us right into the hustle bustle of a crowded marketplace. We're instantly transported a world away, no matter our destination- plus there's something so meta about wearing a travel-influenced pant while abroad. Layered mesh is breezy and breathable, making this pant perfect for blazing hot locales- but don't scream "travel pant." Easy pull-on waistband and wide leg make these a stylishly relaxed go-to after a long day of exploring. We love this pant worn with a white shirt. Shorts are considered risqué (or just déclassé) in many countries, so make sure you have a long option even when it's hot out.
KAISER Gauzy Peasant Dress II
4. Pack an everywhere dress.
This bohemian cotton peasant dress by Kaiser checks all the boxes, becoming our perfect travel companion. Breathable cotton dress features covered shoulders, sleeves, a high neckline, and a moderate skirt length that's appropriate no matter the occasion or setting. From temples, churches, and shrines to museums, parks, or restaurants- your itinerary is safe with one of these packed away. Our number one tip? Make sure you're appropriate for your destination.
MISS O Oscar de la Renta Paisley Stripe Blouse & Skirt Set
5. Pack stunning separates.
This two piece silk skirt set by Oscar de la Renta for Miss O is a wardrobe workhorse. While the fun paisley print keeps the look light, luxe silk twill elevates the peasant-style pieces. A matching set also serves double duty, as each piece can be worn separately for maximum mileage or worn together with the appearance of a dress. Again, the high neck, covered shoulders, long sleeves, and modest skirt length will take you far. We love mixing the silk skirt with a cotton tee and leather sandals for day-tripping, and the top can be tucked into a black pant for an easy dose of elegance.
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER Soleil Mesh Coral Reef Dress
6. Pack versatile evening-wear.
Remember all those times you packed heels and a dress you didn't wear? Don't let that happen again. This long mesh gown by Jean Paul Gaultier Soleil adds sophistication to any evening out, but secretly doubles as a glam swim cover-up. An off-the-shoulder, wide v-neck shawl collar with a long, full skirt is full of operatic elegance- but again, can be easily thrown into a bag sans wrinkles. We'd toss on a denim jacket and wear around town with a pair of sneakers or sandals, exploring the neighborhood surrounding our local apartment rental. Don't pack anything you wouldn't reach for at home.
